The last installment of our Japan trip at the beginning of the year!
We took the shinkansen from Kyoto to Nagoya. Nagoya was a bit of a question mark, as we both had never been, and it was extremely unplanned for the most part aside for knowing, we wanted to rent a car and see if we could drive in Japan.
Firstly we needed lunch, so we found a nice sushi place in a shopping mall, at the top floor, which, since it was a weekday, was mostly elderly people in line. But the place we picked was almost the busiest, as we weren't really a fan of the idea of having Italian food in Japan, when we could have perfectly great sushi. We went to Oasis 21 to do some shopping and had some more sushi and then we ended up in another shoutengai, which was seemingly pretty empty for the most part. But we were pretty wiped from the day and ended up at a restaurant called Jerry's Uno that sold...tacos?
The next day, we got the rental car and headed on a long drive to Tsumago-juku, which is a post town on the Nakasendo route. Mostly aesthetics and wanting to see something different, and then also going to see Tokoname Manekineko Street and Pottery Lane. Unfortunately we got there pretty late though, and most of the shops were already closed by the time we walked through. It was quite unfortunate...and we'll have to make the trip over there again some time so we can shop more bowls and plates...cups. That night we were pretty wiped again, and figured we'd just find something to eat close by. One thing I knew I had to at least - tebasaki - essentially chicken wings seasoned and deep fried without using batter, and skewers.
We went back to Tokyo, nearing the end of our trip - as that was our last stop, and also where we left half our luggage at the hotel. We spent most of our time in Akihabara and Nakano Broadway hoping to find a few last finds before flying back.
Overall, it was a fairly satisfying honeymoon - babymoon - anniversary - all of the above trip. Hope you enjoyed catching up with us. And with that - until next time! :)
